Quantum computing is a new computing paradigm with a huge potential to solve many classically intractable problems. As the expected level of quantum supremacy requires more than 10,000 (10+K) qubits, computer architects have done their best effort to develop a scalable quantum computer system supporting 10+K qubits. However, it is extremely challenging to design such a large system mainly due to the complex scalability trade-offs regarding operating temperatures, device and wire technologies, and microarchitecture designs. Therefore, architects need a modeling tool to evaluate various design choices and lead to an optimal quantum computer system architecture.
In this talk, I will introduce our research efforts towards 10+K qubit quantum computer systems. I will first introduce the background of a quantum computer system, and then present our end-to-end quantum computer system simulator and 10+K qubit-scale quantum computer system architecture. Through this presentation, the audience will also understand (1) the various efforts of academia and industry, and (2) the future design direction towards large-scale quantum computers.
5. 연사 : Dongmoon Min is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Seoul National University. His research interests include cryogenic/superconducting computer architecture and quantum computing. He earned his B.S degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Seoul National University.
